20th Anniversary Edition!

This edition of “What’s Cooking,” celebrates 20 years of the Nana's Recipes website. What an anniversary milestone!

Nana's Recipes was first published in 1998 with just a handful of recipes. Twenty years later, the site has grown to about 300 recipes, many of which include images. The image on the right shows what Nana's Recipes home page looked like in the early days. The site has evolved over the years, but we've tried to keep it simple and homey — just like the recipes we feature. The complete history of the website is chronicled on our "Behind the Scenes" page.

In the last few months, Nana's Recipes Facebook page has exploded with new "likes!" Our Jell-O salad recipes (especially the Strawberry Jell-O Salad) continue to fuel interest in the site. Most of the traffic appears to come from Pinterest.com. Nana's Recipes has now rung up over 1000 "likes" — not bad for our little website!

Over 500 "likes" have accrued in the last 3 months (see chart below). Who would have thought that Jell-O recipes could cause so much excitement — we're sure glad they did! We'd love to hear how you found Nana's Recipes — please post your story on our Facebook page.

All the buzz about the Strawberry Jell-O Salad inspired us to make the recipe so that we could capture a new image and update the recipe instructions. The recipe is just as tasty as it was a half-century ago! Luckily, we were able to use the same vintage 50-year-old Tupperware mold used to create the salad for the grainy image we originally captured in 1998 (see images at right).
